Tips and Tricks
The Smokettle is very easy to use. If you are having any trouble, try these helpful tips.
If temperature drops below 200°F
- Clear ashes. Ashes can block bottom vent holes. Make sure vent holes are open and clear.
- Thump grill. Gently tap side of grill with a stick.
- Ashes can sit on coals and not allow oxygen to stoke fire.
- Slide lid onto handle (image 1) for a few minutes to allow more oxygen to feed coals.

If temperature gets above 300°F and you want 225°F
- Add water
- Adjust vents to halfway.
If temperature drops to 150°F
- Slide lid onto handle (image 1) for a few minutes to allow more oxygen to feed coals.
- Remove grill grate and Smokettle.
- Add more charcoal evenly and reassemble.
- Open vents fully
