Tips and Tricks

 

 The Smokettle is very easy to use. If you are having any trouble, try these helpful tips.

 

If temperature drops below 200°F

  1. Clear ashes. Ashes can block bottom vent holes. Make sure vent holes are open and clear.
  2. Thump grill. Gently tap side of grill with a stick.
  3. Ashes can sit on coals and not allow oxygen to stoke fire.
  4. Slide lid onto handle (image 1) for a few minutes to allow more oxygen to feed coals.

 If temperature gets above 300°F and you want 225°F

  1. Add water
  2. Adjust vents to halfway.

 

If temperature drops to 150°F

  1. Slide lid onto handle (image 1) for a few minutes to allow more oxygen to feed coals.
  2. Remove grill grate and Smokettle.
  3. Add more charcoal evenly and reassemble.
  4. Open vents fully
